The Concert
a RITHMS Movie, produced by Art Crime Project APS
What if music could be stolen?
The Concert, written and directed by Alessandro Garilli (winner of the International Video Competition for Cultural Heritage Crime Project), is an animated art short film produced by Art Crime Project APS, in collaboration with the European project RITHMS (Research, Intelligence and Technology for Heritage and Market Security).
Inspired by Vermeer’s masterpiece The Concert—stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in 1990 and never recovered—the film imagines a world where the painting’s characters have lost their music, leaving an entire community in silence.
This short film raises awareness about the fight against the illicit trafficking of cultural heritage, reminding us of the irreplaceable treasures we risk losing forever.
